1. Jerusalem: Arab Youths Attack Jewish Children
by Gil Ronen Jerusalem: Arab Youths Attack Jewish Children

Two Arab youths attacked a group of Jewish children in Jerusalem's Homat Shmuel (Har Homa) neighborhood.

About ten Jewish children established a play encampment near the neighborhood, where they played and studied Torah after school.

Sunday afternoon, two Arab youths arrived on the scene, attacked the children, causing bruises to two of them. They tried to throw one of the children into the wadi but failed.

The Jewish children ran off and the Arabs burned their encampment, including holy books, and an Israel flag. They also threw a bicycle that one of the children had received for his bar mitzva into the flames.

The boy whose bicycle was burned told Arutz Sheva, “We are not afraid and we hope the police will take care of them. We will rebuild the encampment.”

A member of the Homat Shmuel directorate said that he expects police to be “more assertive” in cases like these.

2. Bennett: Palestinian State? Get Over It
by Gil Ronen Bennett: Palestinian State? Get Over It

Bayit Yehudi head, Economics Minister Naftali Bennett, said Monday that the idea of establishing a Palestinian state has reached a dead end and should be forsaken.

"Never in the history of Israel has so much energy been invested in something so pointless,” Bennett said at a conference on the Jewish settlers in Judea and Samaria and their depiction in the media.

Regarding the idea of a Palestinian state, he said, "We need to go from a situation in which we try to convince people that it is a bad idea, to one in which this idea is behind us. Anyone who travels around Judea and Samaria knows that what they say in the hallways of Oslo and Annapolis is detached from reality.”

"There are 400,000 Israeli residents of Judea and Samaria, and another 250,000 in eastern Jerusalem,” he noted. “More than 10% of the residents of Israel live in what is called the Green Line. The attempt to establish a Palestinian state inside our land is over.”

The nation needs to keep on “building and building and building” in the Land of Israel, Bennett said. “It is important that there be a Jewish presence everywhere.”

“Our main problem is still the fact that Israel's leaders are not prepared to say simply, that the Land of Israel belongs to the nation of Israel,” he explained. “We need to tell ourselves and the entire world that this land has been ours for 3,000 years.”

3. Turkish Police: Protesters in Taksim Considered Terrorists
by Rina Tzvi 'Protesters in Taksim Are Terrorists'

Anyone who enters Istanbul’s Taksim Square will be considered a member or a supporter of a terrorist organization, Turkey’s European Union minister said in a televised interview late last night, according to Hurriyet Daily News.

“I request our citizens who supported the protests until today kindly to return to their homes,” Egemen Bagış said in an interview on broadcast station A Haber.

“From now on the state will unfortunately have to consider everyone who remains there a supporter or member of a terror organization,” he said. “Our prime minister has already assured [activists] about their aim with the protests. The protests from now on will play into the hands of some separatist organizations that want to break the peace and prioritize vandalism and terrorism.”

High-ranking Turkish officials have been posting warnings on the issue and everyone should act accordingly, he said.

Bagış continued to criticize the foreign media for exaggerating the protests.

“Unfortunately, the foreign press has made a big mistake on this issue,” he said, saying that they wanted to reflect Turkey as a country where life has come to a stand-still.

“Hours-long broadcasting that is even not interrupted by commercials has damaged Turkey’s image,” he said.

“But these long broadcasts surely have a financial reason, and this will be revealed. International channels such as BBC and CNN never do such broadcasting without any advertisement. Somebody somehow financed these broadcasts. Like our prime minister said, the losses of the interest rate lobby due to low interest rates have exceeded $650 billion in Turkey,” he maintained, according to Hurriyet Daily News. “This drives them crazy and they are doing everything to disturb the calm in our country and win back their losses.”

4. MKs and Activists Discuss Deteriorating Situation on Mt. Olives
by Yoni Kempinski Discussing Deteriorating Situation on Mt. Olives

Abe Lubinsky, Chairman of the International Committee for the Preservation of Har Hazeitim (ICPHH) participated recently in a special meeting held in the Knesset regarding the situtaion at Har Hazeitim (the Mount of Olives). Lubinsky spoke with Arutz Sheva about the significance of the gathering.

"An important part of my testimony at the Knesset hearing which was dedicated to Har Hazeitim was to impress upon the authorities that the complete 24-policeman deployment at the Mount of Olives Police station is absolutely necessary to reduce the perception of fear and to enforce the law", explained Lubinsky, "I also made it clear that without securing the approaches to Har Hazeitim at both the Ras al-Amud and A-Tur access points, visitors and mourners will continue to be at risk to stoning attacks and other violence."

"It's crucial to get our message across to as many public officials as possible", said Lubinsky. "including those present at the hearing.  The very fact that there are ongoing hearings about Har Hazeitim means that our message will reach the proper authorities and peace will eventually prevail at one of Judaism's holiest sites."

Jeff Daube, ICPPH Co-chair and the Israel Director of the Zionist Organization of America, was also present at the Knesset hearing. "While the Interior Committee did not address its primary topic, the illegal mosque's construction, I am nevertheless heartened by the concern expressed by MKs regarding the unacceptable situation on Har Hazeitim", said Daube.

"This hearing, coupled with the hearing that I also attended just a week before that was chaired by MK Miri Regev, on the sharp increase in rock-throwing in eastern Jerusalem, gives me reason for optimism, so long as our country's leadership follows through with practical solutions."

5. Hizbullah Trains Assad Forces for Aleppo Offensive
by Rina Tzvi Hizbullah Trains Assad Forces for Aleppo Offensive

Some 80 thousand military forces trained by Hizbullah are preparing to launch a ground offensive to recapture Syria’s commercial city of Aleppo, according to a report in the UK-based Sunday Times.

A Hizbullah commander said the fighters belonging to Syria’s National Defense Force (NDF) have been taught “to fight street by street.”

The fighters were also trained by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, the newspaper reported.

The commander on Sunday said Hizbullah will not deploy its fighters in Aleppo, but will only provide tactical support for forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“The battle for Aleppo will be fought by the NDF and the Syrian army, with Hizbullah supervising and providing military tactical advice on how to coordinate and conduct the offensive,” the commander was quoted by the Sunday Times as saying.

“It will consist mainly of commanders and experts advising and planning together with the Syrian army’s commanders in charge of Aleppo, on how best to utilize the men on the ground, how to advance and where to fight,” he added.

The planned assault on Aleppo aims to drive back Syrian opposition fighters who have maintained control of the city.

6. Ketzaleh: Bennett and Lapid will Unite
by Gil Ronen Ketzaleh: Bennett and Lapid will Unite

Yaakov Katz (“Ketzaleh”), CEO of Arutz Sheva and former head of the National Union party, predicts that Bayit Yehudi head Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid may join forces politically in a single Knesset list in the next elections.

"There are no leaders in the Knesset nowadays – only politicians,” he said. “There are negotiations on handing over 94% of Judea and Samaria. There is a complete freeze on construction in the eastern part of Jerusalem, and local authorities in Judea and Samaria are not advancing building permits. The yeshiva worlds of all sectors are hard hit.

“I believe that a political union between Bennett and Lapid is in the offing and that they will run for the next Knesset together. We must prepare for this,” he warned. “Bennett will try to use the Bayit Yehudi party as a 'shelf party.'”

"For these reasons, I am receiving many requests to put my hat back in the ring. This may yet happen, to bring about a leadership that is not just political but also has a vision.”

7. Explosions Shake Damascus Military Airport
by Rina Tzvi Explosions Shake Damascus Military Airport

Two bombs struck a large military airport outside the Syrian capital of Damascus on Sunday night, the main rebel army said, according to CNN.

The first of a series of explosions was near a checkpoint near the main door of the al-Mazzeh airport, and the second was near an exterior wall, said Louay Mikdad, a spokesman for the Free Syrian Army.

It wasn't immediately clear who was behind the blasts.

It was not known how many people were hurt, but Mikdad said witnesses told of "many ambulances" taking away the wounded, CNN reported. Al-Jazeera reported 12 dead.

After the explosions, mortar bombs were fired from inside the airport into surrounding neighborhoods, Mikdad said. The targets weren't known.

In addition to being the site of the military airport, the al-Mazzeh area is home to embassies, security buildings and the homes of some members of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's inner circle, according to opposition activists.

8. Putin: Syrian Rebels Are Cannibals; Don't Arm Them
by Elad Benari Putin: Syrian Rebels Are Cannibals; Don't Arm Them

The Syrian rebels are “cannibals” and should not be given arms, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday.

"I think you will not deny that one does not really need to support the people who not only kill their enemies, but open up their bodies, eat their intestines, in front of the public and cameras," Putin said at a joint press conference in London with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Putin was referring to video footage posted on the Internet last month of a rebel fighter eating the heart of a government soldier.

"Is it them who you want to supply with weapons?" he said, adding that this behavior does not correspond with international humanitarian norms.

Putin’s comments mark the first time that he has publicly responded to a decision by the United States last week to provide arms for the rebels fighting to oust Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. Russia is an open supporter of Assad and has indicated that it plans to provide him with advanced missile systems.

The U.S. government announced on Thursday that the Syrian army used chemical weapons against rebel forces on multiple occasions, adding that America will increase the “scope and scale” of its assistance to rebels in Syria in response.

An aide to Putin said on Friday that Russia is not convinced by the evidence which the U.S. provided alleging that the Assad government used chemical weapons against rebel forces.

“The Americans tried to present us with information on the use of chemical weapons by the regime, but frankly we thought that it was not convincing,” the aide, Yury Ushakov, said.

On Sunday, The Independent reported that Iran is sending 4,000 new troops to help Assad crush rebel forces in the country’s ongoing civil war.

The report in warned that the U.S. decision to arm rebels “has plunged America into the great Sunni-Shia conflict of the Islamic Middle East… the U.S. is now fully engaged on the side of armed groups which include the most extreme Sunni Islamist movements in the Middle East.”
