If it weren't for the United States military,
there'd be NO United States of America .

SOMEONE HAS TO HOLD OUR COUNTRY IN THEIR HANDS. SEND THIS ON.

THE FINAL
INSPECTION

The Soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
( Lo cual  siempre ha de  suceder )
He hoped his shoes were shining,
( El confió en que brillaran sus zapatos )
Just as brightly as his brass..
( justo como todas sus insignias)
'Step forward now, Soldier ,
(Un paso adelante ahora, Soldado,)
How shall I deal with you?
( como trataré contigo? )
Have you always turned the other cheek?
( Has puesto siempre la otra mejilla? )
To My Church have you been true?'
( para mi Iglesia has sido fiel?)
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
( el soldado cuadró sus hombros y respondió )
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
( porque quienes portamos armas )
Can't always be a saint.
( No podemos siempre ser santos )
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
( y algunas veces he sido violento )
Because the world is awfully rough.
( porque el mundo es horriblemente brutal )
But, I never took a penny,
( pero, nuncs he tomado un centavo )
That wasn't mine to keep...
( que no fuera de mi propiedad )
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
( sinembargo he trabajado un gran sobretiempo )
When the bills got just too steep.
( cuando las cuentas llegaron excesivas )
And I never passed a cry for help,
( y nunca desatendí un grito de auxilio )
Though at times I shook with fear..
(aunque a veces  acudí con miedo )
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
( y algunas veces, Dios, perdóname )
I've wept unmanly tears.
( derramé cobardes lágrimas )
I know I don't deserve a place,
( y sé que no merezco un lugar ,)
Among the people here.
( en medio de la gente aquí )
 They never wanted me around,
( ellos nunca me quisieron a su alrededor )
Except to calm their fears
( excepto para calmar sus miedos )
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
 It needn't be so grand.
( No necesito que sea muy grande )
I never expected or had too much,
( nunca he esperado o tenido mucho )
But if you don't, I'll understand.
( pero si no,  Yo entenderé )
There was a silence all around the throne
( se hizo gran silencio alrededor del trono)
Where the saints had often trod.
( donde los santos a menudo  circulan )
As the Soldier waited quietly,
( mientras el soldado esperaba tranquilamente )
For the judgment of his God.
( por el juicio de Dios. )
'Step forward now, you Soldier,
( Un paso adelante ahora, tu Soldado )
You've borne your burdens well.
( Has soportado tus cargas bien )
You've done your time in Hell.'

It's the Soldier, not the reporter  ( Es el Soldado, no el periodista)
Who has given us the freedom of the press.
It's the Soldier, not the poet,  (Es el Soldado, no el poeta)
Who has given us the freedom of speech.

It's the Soldier, not the politicians
( Es el Soldado, no los políticos)
That ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness..
It's the Soldier who salutes the flag,  (Es el Soldado quien saluda a la bandera,)
Who serves beneath the flag,

(el que sirve bajo la bandera )
And whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the Military,
Please pass this on
